The New Year ... right around the corner!

What will 2012 bring ... We know MORE BABIES!

3 new doeling's on the ground...Now to find out "who's your daddy".
Yes, note to future homesteaders - High fences for your bucks. I know you
have read it before, but head the advice. One day the fences seem adequate,
and the next you are sending off for goatie DNA tests. Sounds ridiculous, but
it is critical as a breeder to make sure you are 100% sure who the daddy is.

I have yet to make butter, yogurt, etc ... I just can't seem to find the time.
I know, I know, I can't seem to find time to blog either.

BITE ME ... doing the best I can ;P

Pictures of babies to come soon. Yes, soon is a relative term.

Fall has arrived

Good times ... I have decided to open my garden up to a few other ladies at church to make it more of a communal garden. The biggest thing will be the additional help in keeping it weeded and thriving.

I can't wait to share pictures of our organic yummies. I will really be focusing on my compost this year.

I have begun breeding the girls :) Baby goats should abound by Spring. Annie has already been bred to Jessie James.

Life goes on...

My goat herd is looking like an actual herd. We are up to 11.
4 bucks 6 does and 1 whether.
Lots of breeding should be happening this fall.
That should take those little buggers a couple seconds each.

Square foot gardening again this year; yippee

Mission Trip in two weeks -

Alli's going to be two in a couple weeks ... sigh   She is so precious.

Elections around the corner ... sigh ... not impressed

Sad Week :(

We had major storms come through here this week. Many people down in Alabama lost their lives due to tornado's. We lost our horse Jaxx :( both our horses were struck by lightning. Jaxx was killed instantly and Gabriella is still hanging in there. She is blind in one eye, we don't think she can hear out of one ear, and has partial paralysis in her lip. It is all so very sad.

The goats came through fine - other than their stalls flooding.

We will continue praying for Gabby and hope she recovers.

RIP JAXX :(

Alli and I in the kitchen.

Boy I wish I had taken a picture of the mess created by letting Alli help me
make the pancakes this morning. She loved it :) It was worth the gigantic mess.
We made 'clean and healthy' banana blueberry pancakes ~ they were DE-lish.
Topped with a little Agava Nectar and we have a yummy little breakfast.

The baby kids are settling in GREAT. They are not getting kicked around like
they were at first. I think keeping the seperate from the does early on, and not
forcing them on each other really helped.  Now they roam like part of the herd.
I will be having to seperate them once they become 'bucky'.
Miss Kiddy is due in about 3 weeks. Total guess !! We shall see.

Garden plot is tilled now, and I am just about ready to start planting. Yes, I'm
late but ... Well life called ...

Happy Good Friday all ~ I am so unworthy of His sacrafice, yet so THANKFUL
for it as well.

Praise God - Marshal's better

We praise Him in the good times - and we praise Him in the bad.

I prayed for a goat ... I did ... and I believe that's OK. I have a loving Father that cares about what hurts me, and seeing my goat suffer, hurt.

Marshal is better...Today
It's really a daily battle for a while.

Marshal is a total stud :) He mounted Miss Kiddy for MAYBE 2 seconds and SHE'S PREGNANT.
Woohoo......

Pictures to come shortly of our new little buckling.

Marshal's sick :(

You have heard the warnings before about boy goats getting urinary calcium stones - Well Marshal has some serious blockages.

Poor thing is in so much pain. Knowing him and his habits may have saved his life. We got him to the vet pretty quick.

We have taken him to the vets twice in two days, they say it's up to him now :(

This weekend has been expensive, but I am praying Marshal pulls through.

SPRING has SPRUNG :)

Lots of exciting happenings around the farm!!

Bought some plants today ~ Woohooo
Getting so excited about getting my hands dirty :) - Probably less excited in July but hey ...

Planted my Parsley, Lavender, and some potatoes today ... YAY
I have SOO much more to plant ... but first I need to ask my sweet neighbors to borrow
their tractor. I have WONDERFUL compost I can't wait to add to my gardens.

Second exciting thing... I think I found a new buck :) ALL the breeding I've been looking for.
Really wish he would have been polled, but ... He's beautiful.

Isn't he purdy...
With Spring around the corner, lots of work to get done... Come on over and give me a hand :)

Conspiracy ??

Is it just me or do grocery stores NEVER have "healthy" stuff on sale ~ It's always stuff like Totino's pizza, sugary cereal, etc... never the good stuff.

AND why is healthy foods more expensive?? Can it really cost THAT much more to make? Usually there are less ingredients, wouldn't that make it cheaper?

Does the government want us to be healthy? Do food makers WANT us to be healthy?
I personally don't think so.

Sugar is addicting - It took me 3 days to detox from sugar. I had headache's, fatigue, and mood swings - I was in full blown withdrawals... If this is the case, why does the majority of our foods contain many kinds of sugar?

I get that it's all a choice, I would just like to know why making 'better' choices cost so much more.

Can't wait to get my hands dirty in some good soil and get my plants going - bring on Spring :) Then I can eat my own veggies that only cost my time and labor :)

Isaiah 45:2  I will go before you and make the crooked places straight; I will break in pieces the gates of bronze and cut the bars of iron.

Love Winter...but looking forward to SPRING

How how I LOVE winter ... It is just so beautiful ~ However, we have had LOTS of snow this year and I am really looking to Spring. To fresh tomatoes, and lettuces, corn and ... Green stuff :)

I am really going to be pushing hard for some chickens and maybe a sheep or two :) that may be pushing it but I think if I ask for two things, maybe I'll get at least ONE of them.

While on a hike this guy was talking about how he has been growing sprouts and really enjoying them in his salads. I definitely want to give those a try.

Not much else to say until spring... God willing, I will post again soon.
